Assessment Information

Dance Align is affiliated with Australian Dance Institute and Australian Dance Vision (ADi-ADV) and has chosen to use them as our main assessment body. Students gain a holistic approach to dance. Each level includes a number of aligned subjects, including safe dance, body science, terminology, musicality and history as well as technical elements. This syllabus is also a good preparation for educational school dance (VCE dance) for older students.

While assessments are not compulsory, they are encouraged.

What is an assessment?
Taken in groups of about 4-6, students show their dance work to an assessor. The class will take place at our normal dance hall in Hurstbridge Primary School. Your child’s teacher is present throughout the class to provide support to the children, but does not ‘teach’ the class. The assessor will make notes and later provide a report and a mark, each child will also receive a certificate. The process is designed to be a warm and friendly experience.

What are the benefits of taking an assessment?
I encourage students to participate in an assessment as it provides external feedback on each student’s ability and skill as well as to help focus the students learning as they have a goal to work toward. It also teaches students commitment and dedication with the reward of the confidence that achievement brings.
